Academies
The Fire Service Academy, the Academy for Medical Assistance in Accidents and Disasters, the Academy for Crisis Management and the Academy for Leadership Safety Regions are all part of the NIFV. The academies each have their own target group. They deliver an extensive package of practical and state-of-the-art products and services. With a range of courses and training programmes. With their own teaching and instruction developed in-house. With congresses, workshops and conferences. And with research, advice and documentation regarding all aspects of the fire service, medical assistance in accidents and disasters and crisis management.
Research activities
Researchers from the NIFV focus on all sections of the safety chain in their own specialist field: proactivity, prevention, preparation, emergency response and after-care. Learn more about our research activities.
Knowledge broker
An important task of the Netherlands Institute for Safety Nibra is to gather and enhance knowledge for subsequent dissemination. And this includes the compiling ofknowledge in written form for course purposes. Internet and other (multi)media are being used increasingly to make knowledge available. In addition, workshops, conferences and meetings have an important role to play in the exchange of knowledge.
Lectureships
There are three lectureships set up at our institute: Fire service Skills, Fire Prevention and Crisis Management. The lectureships and associated teams of internal and external experts combine research, training and practice. They systematically describe working methods and developments in the different fields and supplement this with new knowledge and insights in order to then translate their findings into concepts and methodologies. These in turn are incorporated into the courses and training programmes provided by the various academies. This way, the lectureships help to professionalise emergency services.
